2002 Carlstrom Beerdie Champions

Herb Foundation - Chris Bourdon and Paul "Herb" Bourdon

The Herb Foundation is the first father/son duo to take home the championship trophies. Herb was very focused this year and certainly came to play with a tournament tying five sinks. "I don't want to let out all my secrets, but you see this cigar? I use the smoke to determine the wind direction and speed at the table we are playing on next." Chris didn't show up on the dead-eye board, but his tosses lived around the cup all day and was inspired by his partner. "We were mentally tough this tournament. We knew that we had to beat the best to take home these trophies. I've got a real nice spot on top of my TV for this."

2002 Carlstrom Beerdie Runner-up
All Finished - Dan Murdzek and Keith Hartenstein

There were two goals for All Finished this year. Get Dan his automatic induction into the Hall Of Fame and try to become the first back-to-back Carlstrom Beerdie Champion. They were able to accomplish their first goal with a tough climb through the loser's bracket after losing their second game in the tournament. They then rattled off five straight victories to make the finals for the third straight Carlstrom Beerdie Tournament. "I'm proud to be the first entrant into the Beerdie Hall Of Fame, but it would've been sweeter had we been able to win the back to back championships. It is real hard to defend in this game. There are so many quality teams out there and if you're not on top of your game early a newcomer can take you by surprise.", Dan said after a tearful Hall Of Fame speech.

2002 Carlstrom Beerdie 3rd Place
Cousin Brewski - Dave Carlstrom and Rob Klobukowski

Dave and Rob liked their finish this year for one reason. "We didn't want to repeat the condition we were in after last year's tourney. We had another good showing and we missed the finals because of miscommunication on a perfect toss", Dave said after losing in the loser's bracket finals. "It was one of those 'you got it' no 'I have it' kind of tosses. We had our chances to put them away and we didn't capitalize on that.", stated Rob after he was found wandering in the woods.

2002 Carlstrom Beerdie Dead Eye Dick

Fore Play- Skip Starks

This year there was a three-way tie for the deadeye lead (5 sinks) when the tournament over. Paul Bourdon and Keith Hartenstein each went through their five playoff tosses without sinking a single die. Skippy then stepped up for his turn and proceeded to sink the first toss like there was nothing to it. Skippy has shown improvement each year he has entered the tournament and hopes to get to the promise land next year. "To be honest, I think that sink was a little low. Everyone was so drunk that they just wanted it over with", Skippy stated after the toss-off.

2002 Carlstrom Beerdie Rookie of the Year
Men Of Honor - Dave "Spanky" Giangrave

Spanky was rightfully labeled the Ichiro Suzuki of Beerdie. This wasn't the first time he had picked up a die and thrown it before, but it was his first official tournament entered. Spanky played many years over in Thailand with the traveling beerdie team called the "Harlem Dieplunkers". After making a celebrity appearance at the New Haven Irishfest the night before, endurance was becoming a huge factor towards the end of the tournament for Dave. He fought through it and gained the respect of the many players still in attendance at the end.
