2001 Carlstrom Beerdie Champions

All Finished - Dan Murdzek and Keith Hartenstein

Going 16-3 in the 3 tournaments they've entered as a team, All Finished has proven why they are currently the top ranked team. That works out to a .842 winning percentage. With a 6-0 victory and a shutout to start this year's tourney, Keith & Dan prepared themselves for the later part of the tournament that lead them to their first Carlstrom Beerdie championship. This championship was historical in that it was the first ever won by a team coming out of the loser's bracket. Dan & Keith have won 80% and 84% of their games respectively as individuals. Dan is just 5 points shy of an automatic Hall Of Fame induction.

2001 Carlstrom Beerdie Runner-up
Cousin Brewski - Dave Carlstrom and Rob Klobukowski

With all of their games, but one, coming down to bomb's away this duo was well inebriated going into the championship game. Even though they may have come out of the winner's bracket, they certainly didn't look like it standing across the table from the soon-to-be champions. Dave did get a roar from the crowd with the catch of the tournament in the first championship game. Dave saved a cup shot that was skidding across the table, falling to the ground, with an all out diving catch. "I don't remember any of that second game, how'd we do?", says Klobukowski. This was Cousin Brewski's third 2nd place finish in tournament play.

2001 Carlstrom Beerdie 3rd Place
Spank The Monkey - Will Malz and Gary Evans

Most say Gary was the most improved player from last year. Last year being Will and Gary's first tourney playing together, it took some time to find their groove. Well, this year both players were consistently around the cup and always giving their team a chance to win. "With both of our losses coming at the hands of both teams that made it to the finals isn't anything to bitch about.", says Malz. Evans was so excited with their finish that he was seen streaking across the yard after the tournament. Watch for Spank(ing) The Monkey to become a favorite of kids everywhere.

2001 Carlstrom Beerdie Dead Eye Dick

All Finished - Dan Murdzek

For the second consecutive year the Dead Eye Dick tally ended in a tie at the end of the tournament. Dan Murdzek, Dan Gillis and Matt Gillis each ended up with 4 sinks a piece. The two Gillis brothers and Dan, after we could settle him down from celebrating his victory, were brought to the table for the Dead Eye Dick shootout. Dan had two final matches to come away with the year's top shooter prize, but couldn't make a sink in either match. The Gillis Brothers were hoping to come away with a little bragging rights since the winner's trophy had been lost for them earlier in the day. It looked like the Gillis Brothers would take the prize. The Brothers had the eye of the tiger. Dan looked like he was slumping at the end and maybe the long tournament was taking its toll. But being the true champion that he is, Dan quickly dashed the hopes of the Gillis brothers with a sink on the first toss of the shootout. The Gillis brothers were totally psyched out after that. They lost their focus and started worrying about the amount of time they had between throws. Only one unnerved brother managed to knick the cup on his toss and the other toss missed badly. It was a good showing for the young team, but Dan showed why he is a beerdie all-star and a future hall-of-famer. The best always perform when it counts.
- thanks to Adam Chymbor for the play by play

2001 Carlstrom Beerdie Co-Rookie of the Year
Shriveled Livers - Matt & Dan Gillis

With 8 combined sinks, one game with 3 sinks, and a 2-2 showing in their first tournament the board decided that each teammate equally deservred the honor. They will be a team to wreckin' with in the tournaments to come!
